Goldthread (coptis) is scientifically used for digestive disorders, parasite infections including  leishmaniasis, trichomoniasis, and a skin condition called psoriasis. 

Because this product uses downward moving herbs, it is prohibited during pregnancy. It does not cause birth defects, but can stimulate premature contractions and delivery.
